Crusty's Coop

We've got the exclusive! Carl Cook has provided us with a newspaper clipping written by Simpsons creator Matt Groening. Groening wrote the article during his days at the Evergreen State College and it offers what we believe to be conclusive proof of the origins of Krusty's name. While at Evergreen State, Cook played a character named "Crusty Pitts", an old prospector, on a local college television show -- one which Groening refers to in his article as "a much-needed alternative to Johnny Carson and The Midnight Special."

The Krusty the Clown website was sad to learn that Carl Cook passed away November 6, 2007 following a four-year battle with cancer. Cook lived in Olympia, WA with his wife Jadine. He was 62.
